SOUTH SHORE SEAHAWKS 2016-2017 LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAM

Welcome to the South Shore Seahawks Learn to Skate!

Registration is currently open for the 2016-2017 Winter session.

Session 2 Start Date: Sunday, January 8 - End Date: Sunday, April 9

(Black-out dates: 3/12, 3/19, 4/16)

  • Ages: Recommended 3 years or older.  Younger children have success in the program on a case by case basis.
  • Where:  Rockland Ice Rink (599 Summer St.)
  • When: 9:20 AM on Sundays
  • Mandatory equipment: Helmet (hockey helmet with a cage strongly recommended), skates, hockey or water proof gloves
  • Other equipment recommended, but not mandatory:  elbow pads, knee pads/full shin pads, neck guard, waterproof clothing in case of falls, snow pants/hockey pants (with the padded bottoms)
  • We recommend if your child is new and needs a device to hold onto, that you bring 2 milk crates secured together for a proper height.  We will have a limited amount of sleds available at the rink for the students to use.
  • The ice will be separated into 2-3 different levels of skaters from beginners to more advance.  At each level, the kids will be working on their balance and skating skills using various games and drills.
  • Each child will need to be registered with USA Hockey.  It is free to register (for USA Hockey) for children under 6, but you will need a USA hockey number in order to register your child for Learn to Skate.  Go to: http://www.usahockeyregistration.com/login to register.  This is mandatory for all hockey programs nationwide.
  • Parents:  If you have any hockey/figure skating background and would like to help out on the ice, please let Coach John, or myself Coach Rob know.  We are all volunteers and could use any extra help on the ice. All parent volunteers must wear a helmet.

Thank you for supporting the South Shore Seahawks Learn to Skate program.
